#192 Big Head Todd & the Monsters – Sister Sweetly (1993)

Big Head Todd & the Monsters are a band hailing from Colorado where the 3 founding members befriended each other while attending Columbine High School. They formed in 1989 and released several discs independently before signing with a major label for the recording of Sister Sweetly, released in 1993. The first 2 cuts on this album are classics that garnered heavy play on Twin Cities and can still be heard on the radio. “Broken Hearted Savior” is a unique song with a slow back beat and eery echoing vocals that still resonates to this day. “Bittersweet” is a more melodic offering with solid vocals and great catchy guitar riff. BHT never has approached the success they garnered from this first nationwide release but maintains a cult following, especially here in the Twin Cities where they still occasionally play at the Basilica Block Party.
