The Spin Doctors released “Pocketful Of Kryptonite”, their debut album in August of 1991. It seems odd that a group who produced 3 great songs on their debut disc would basically disappear. Unlike a band that is considered a one hit wonder they produced 3 high quality tunes that can still be heard frequently 20 years later, but not hardly a blip thereafter. Strange. Most of the sound on this album is not my taste or much to my liking. “Jimmy Olson’s Blue’s” is a fun romp that calls up the album name. “Two Princes” & “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” could be companion songs and they both reside in my I Pod. I saw the band live, as they opened up for the Rolling Stones on the “Voodoo Lounge” Tour in 1994, while they were supporting their follow-up disc to “Pocketful Of Kryptonite”. Their live performance does offer some insight into what may have happened to the group…..unimpressive.
